VOR Monsieur Fabio .. :P Aber scheinbar habe ich mich getäuscht. <br><br>Mir gefiel schon "Bound 2" extrem gut, obschons alle anderen gehasst haben. Das hier nur der Gesang genommen wurde und ein solcher Sound daraus entstand, finde ich wie eindrücklicher. Kann hier nicht weniger als 6* geben! *~* |

This can be fun but it's basic and it really isn't as good as "Bound 2". Shame on me for thinking that originally. The drum and bass sound is nice enough but it's nothing particularly impressive, while the song sounds cheap thanks to the soundalike vocal and the fact that it's just repeating the same thing. Even as someone who can get into songs that do that, it just doesn't grab me here. Cool enough but #1 in the UK is going overboard. I do find it amusing that it was kept from the top 10 here though.

| **** The current paradigm shift in the UK has been a talking point lately. Just about a year ago, the #1 spot was mainly reserved for the biggest pop stars (and Ne-Yo). But since mid-November last year, the only #1 artists that can remotely claim this would be Lily Allen, Calvin Harris, Pitbull & Pharrell Williams. Filling up most of the gaps? Random dance artists with mostly no more than 2 hits to their name.<br><br>This change can be attributed to several factors. One would be a severe lack of major names putting out strong singles. Another would be that the increased prevalence of pre-orders meaning that the battle for #1 is one that is waged months in advance, rather than on the very week (which would lead to more fanbase #1s). In essence, this makes it turn into a similar game to the country airplay charts; the labels just fiddle around with the release dates to make sure everyone gets a turn, and the public are astonishingly disengaged with this behind the scenes tomfoolery, even though it's supposed to be their chart! I like to think of it as a direct reaction to a waste of space like "The Monster" getting to #1 shortly before, as truly the culmination of branding over quality.<br><br>The thing about the pop charts is that it's a bit of a democracy. Most people will have their own agenda for what they want, and when you compile all of these together, the largest group will consistently have the only say of what goes on. For those not in whatever the current vogue is, they can rest easy as it often changes, after all, it's past the era where Take That or Oasis or Westlife could send anything they release to #1; they were once in vogue after all.<br><br>The only problem with this sort of thing is that it can truly alienate the outsiders, I mean if you don't like one electro-house, there's a good chance you won't like any of them. What I admire about this trend though is that it's a rare case where there is diversity in the zeitgeist. "Hideaway" sounds nothing like "Animals" which sounds nothing like "My Love" which sounds nothing like this! It's exciting for me to see just how many sub-genres can be explored at this level of mass popularity. I do have some admiration for this track though, as it is built around a sample used in the much better "Bound 2", and this just adds to its welcomed impact. Of course them it's a shame that due to legal reasons, the original Charlie Wilson vocals can't be used, instead replaced by a soundalike, which makes this track seem a bit cheap.<br><br>I guess though I still do fall prey to the intensity of drum & bass music, so I still enjoy this track even despite its flaws. This sounds like about 4074543.58 songs that have already charted this year (as well as a couple of Rudimental ones from 2012; them most of all) and for me it's one of the biggest wastes of a chart position this year.
